The old movement has worked 30 to 40 years with not much complaint. However over time the [oil](/product/oiler-oil) becomes a solid and creates wear on the outer plates. Clean the clock and install new bushings in these outer plates is an option. But this is time consuming and expensive so it would end up taking weeks or months to complete. The price would be twice as much as a new movement would cost. Even [the best repair](https://www.clockworks.com/clock-repair-service.html) of the old unit will not be better than the new unit, that would be impossible. So the choice is easy, a new movement would cost less and be done faster. The quality is the same and still made in Germany. The new Jauch Clock Movement replacement will be the same in every way except a few fitting modifications are required. The movement will be brand new and ready to run another 30 years and will come already oiled with instructions. The movement will come with its [chains](https://www.clockworks.com/product/clock-chain-by-movement-maker) and the [hand nut](https://www.clockworks.com/product/german-hand-nuts) in the front. It will also come with its [pendulum leader](https://www.clockworks.com/product/hermle-clock-pendulum-leader-5-1-2-inch) and the [suspension spring](https://www.clockworks.com/product/clock-pendulum-suspension-spring-hanger) at the top. Basically that entire gear meatball that came out of the clock case by removing the [two screws](https://www.clockworks.com/product/clock-movement-seat-board-screws) from underneath. Because it will now be made by Hermle instead of Jauch there are more options also. It can be upgraded with the pendulum to a [metal Lyre style](https://www.clockworks.com/product/hermle-lyre-pendulum) if you choose where this is not possible for the Jauch unit. The [movement](https://www.clockworks.com/clock-movement/hermle-clock-movement.html) can be replaced again in another 25-30 years as the converted movements are still available. If anything were to ever happen to the [dial](https://www.clockworks.com/clock-parts/clock-moon-dials.html), [hands](https://www.clockworks.com/product/serpentine-hands-for-german-mechanical-clocks), [gong](https://www.clockworks.com/clock-parts/mechanical-clock-chimeblock-and-rods.html), [weights](https://www.clockworks.com/clock-parts/mechanical-grandfather-clock-weights.html) or [pendulum](https://www.clockworks.com/clock-parts/clock-pendulums.html), it can be replaced new.
