What is the difference between KSU and MSU?

KSU versus MSU are cross compatible

The robust KSU movement is a very popular movement made by Kieninger. It has the thickest plates in the industry and more. This unit can be expected to run up to 35 years before a total restoration or a replacement needs to happen.

The MSU movement is the same movement but lower grade, it is cross compatible with the KSU movement series as a drop in replacement. These units have thinner plates and have a life expectancy of 25 years.

These units are the same in looks and function, the difference is the materials used. If weighing a KSU movement unit versus an MSU movement, it will be found that the KSU movement is much heavier.

It basically comes down to how much you like the clock and how long you would like it to last before needing to do an in depth service of it.
